My booking experience
The refund policies were really strict and unfair. They didn't account for any unexpected situations and there wasn't any room for flexibility.
Cottage rental
I rented a cottage from this company not long ago, and to be honest, I was really let down by the whole experience. The advert for the cottage I chose sounded amazing, almost too good to be true - and turns out it was. The description was so detailed and specific, but when I actually got there, it was nowhere near what was promised. Trying to chat with the company, especially with Connor, was just no help at all. They were very unresponsive when I tried to bring up my concerns. It seems like this company has a bit of a habit of false advertising, judging by all the other complaints I've read about dodgy payments and cancellations from other customers.
Booking a holiday rental
I booked a holiday rental recently but had to cancel it quite a while before the planned dates because of some unforeseen issues. I asked for a refund well in advance, but the company said no to giving the money back. I was really let down by their lack of empathy and care for customers, especially when things don't go as planned. I would suggest others to reconsider booking with them.
Cottage booking
I had a go at booking a cottage for the summer hols, but it was a nightmare! The customer service was terrible, and they wouldn't give me a refund despite me letting them know well in advance that I couldn't make it. Such a joke!
My stay for 4 years
Hogans have been great for the last 4 years. You can't really blame them for trying to help out the homeowner. It's just not right for the homeowner to lose out on a whole week of bookings and have to scramble to find a replacement. It's really the responsibility of the customer to have holiday insurance in case anything goes awry.
Cancellation dispute
I had such a bad experience with this company. I booked a cottage, but had to cancel within six minutes because of some unexpected things that came up. But even though I cancelled so quickly, they won't give me a full refund, saying it's in their terms and conditions. I think that's really unfair and not right. Their rules don't seem to follow consumer rights laws at all, but they're sticking to them anyway without thinking about what's fair. I'm thinking of getting legal advice to try and get my money back through the Consumer Rights Act. It's worrying to see a company behaving like this, especially during tough times like the Covid pandemic.
My thoughts on Hogans
I reckon it's a bit harsh to point fingers at Hogans for charging when a holiday gets cancelled, isn't it? The owner has got bills to pay as well, so it's only fair they try to make some money back. Everyone's got their own reasons for cancelling, so it's not really right to make the owner suffer a loss. I've been a customer of theirs for a whole decade, and they've always been proper professional with no problems at all.
Unsatisfactory cottage rental
I recently booked a cottage rental with this company, hoping for a nice break away. However, my stay turned out to be really disappointing. There were a lot of problems with the property, such as plumbing and electrical issues, as well as cleanliness concerns. I contacted the company when I got back home to complain and show proof of the problems, but they didn't want to take any responsibility. The owner of the rental property was also unhelpful, which left me feeling really frustrated and let down. The lack of care and bad customer service I experienced was really upsetting. I would advise anyone thinking of booking with this company to be very cautious, as my experience was far from good.
Stayed at the Ramblers Rest in Manorhamilton
I had an amazing time at the Ramblers Rest in Manorhamilton! The cottage was really comfy and had all the cool gadgets we could ask for. Margaret, our host, was absolutely fantastic and made sure we had everything we needed. The whole place was so peaceful and relaxed, I'd definitely recommend it to anyone needing a break from the hustle and bustle of life. I'm already looking forward to going back!
Booking cottage in person
So, I went to go book a cottage in person and this chap called Andrew was there. He seemed friendly at first, but then he started asking me odd questions like what my favourite colour is and if I've got any pets. I thought it was a bit weird, but he said it was because of some policy due to the pandemic. Then he informed me that I had to do a fitness test before booking the cottage because the stairs were really steep. I wasn't sure what he meant, but I just went along with it. Before I knew it, he was asking me to drop my trousers so he could give me a full physical! I was really confused and scared, but I went through with it anyway. And then the cleaner came in and told me that Andrew didn't actually work there! Can you imagine it? Turns out, this place isn't even real! What an absolute nightmare!
Cancellation policy dissatisfaction
I had a really awful time dealing with this company's cancellation policy. I contacted customer service but they were not helpful at all and wouldn't give me a refund. It was really annoying to come up against a company that wasn't willing to help me out. I wouldn't recommend booking with them because of their terrible customer service and unfair cancellation policy.
Cottage booking
I wanted to book a cottage for a little family break, but then we had this unexpected hospital appointment for my disabled son come up and had to cancel. I let them know as soon as I could, but they still charged us a ridiculous amount for cancelling. It's just not fair, really. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
Trip cancelled due to death
I was really upset because there was a death in the family and it meant I had to cancel my trip. I made sure to inform the company six weeks beforehand, but they wouldn't allow me to cancel unless I provided a death certificate. Who actually carries a death certificate with them, anyway? It's not like I can just create one out of thin air! To top it off, they even made a joke about me bringing the body to their office. Can you believe that? I'm really angry about how poorly they handled the situation.
Cottage booking cancellation
I am really let down by how inflexible and unsympathetic this company has been. In these uncertain times with everything changing so quickly, it seems only right for a business to have some understanding for their customers. We had booked a family holiday six weeks ago, but unfortunately had to cancel due to unexpected circumstances. Despite this, Hogans Irish Cottages stuck to their strict no-cancellation policy and wouldn't make an exception. It's not just disappointing, it's unprofessional too. As a customer, I think there should be some flexibility, especially during a global pandemic when plans can change in an instant. It's disheartening to see a company valuing their policy over customer satisfaction, especially when there are other businesses with more lenient cancellation terms. Trust and loyalty are vital for any business, and by refusing reasonable requests, Hogans Irish Cottages are putting their reputation and future business at risk.
Cancelled booking due to covid
Unfortunately, due to the unexpected circumstances of the covid pandemic, we had to cancel our booking with the cottages. However, the staff at the cottages were incredibly unhelpful and showed no empathy towards our situation. We were met with rudeness and a complete lack of understanding when we asked for a refund, which was incredibly disappointing. Despite giving them plenty of notice and explaining our situation, we were met with a strict no cancellation policy and were essentially laughed at for even suggesting a refund. This lack of flexibility and compassion during such a challenging time for everyone is not something that we expected and certainly not something we will tolerate. It left a sour taste in our mouths and we definitely will not be booking with them again in the future.
My holiday rental
I booked a holiday house with them and it was really dodgy. The customer service was terrible, they didn't even try to help me with my problems. And they even threatened legal action if I said anything negative about them. How rude is that?
