New loo, mixed bag
lots of different emails, no clear answer yet.
Moving-day lifesaver
I was halfway through moving day when I realised the new shower head was essential — my back's been dodgy for months and I couldn't faff about. The delivery turned up spot on time and the courier even helped bring it in, which really made a world of difference. Josh from customer support kept me posted, answered daft questions and sorted a small issue quickly. Proper friendly, efficient service that actually took the stress out of the day.
Half-finished bathroom hassle
I was stood in the half-finished bathroom, waiting for tiles — yes, tiles held things up — when the plumbers came and found the shower tray lip was too small by 5mm. I needed a walk-in for my dodgy back, so this was not ideal. Delivery had already been delayed and that didn’t help. I called customer service, explained the measurements and that an exchange would solve it, but at first they said the refund window had passed and no exchanges, so, bluntly, keep it and buy another. I pushed back, asked to speak to someone else, and after a couple of calls they arranged an exchange and a quicker re-delivery. Still a faff, but in the end it was sorted.
RainyThursday steak fix
I popped in on a rainy Thursday for a bite — needed a treat after a long week and the porterhouse sounded right. The server (Jess, if I remember) seemed a little flustered and the first steak arrived much more done than I asked — I like medium-rare, not well. Sent it back, spoke to the chef for a minute (he was a bit brusque) and they remade it. That moment, when I finally cut into the second one and the pink stayed perfect, I breathed out and actually felt properly pleased. I now pick this place when I want something simple but decent, and sometimes I take slices home for quick lunches — makes the week feel less dull. Annoyances aside, glad it worked out and I’ll go back. Price wasn’t mental either, fair for a midweek treat.
Basin that didn’t fit right
I unpacked the basin and wash-stand on a wet Saturday, had a quick look and thought “nice weight, decent finish” — felt solid enough, pleased at first. Then the plumber turned up and it became obvious the stand was the wrong size for our existing plumbing. Pipes had already been prepped, some cuts made, and we had to drain the system to stop leaks (annoying and messy). The product itself feels fine — ceramic is good, edges neat — but the practical bit, the sizing, was a miss. The packaging only had basic assembly steps, no clear dimensions, and the online product page didn’t flag that this is a generic unit that needs trimming. Customer service said it’s normal to cut it to fit and that I should’ve checked a PDF schematic (which wasn’t obvious beforehand). They didn’t offer to cover the plumber’s call-out fee or the hassle of waiting for a second visit. So in use it works once fitted, looks ok, but the installation fuss and lack of clear info left a sour taste. I’m careful with fittings now and will shop elsewhere next time — cheaper headaches aren’t worth it.
Dodgy bolts, ace delivery
neat packaging, everything there, but then I spotted the through‑bolts and my heart sank a bit. They're proper nylon/plastic ones, not steel, which felt worryingly flimsy — like fastening a toilet with lolly‑stick hardware. I wasn't having that, so I popped down to the local plumbing merchant and bought a steel close‑couple bolt kit and fitted that instead. Bit of a pain, true, but the rest of the experience was solid: excellent service and rapid delivery. I'd come back if they stop using plastic bolts. To be fair.
Basin fit — usable but a faff
I unpacked the basin and wash stand and thought it was straightforward. It arrived on time. The problem started when the plumber went to fit it. The stand was too big for our plumbing layout. The leaflet in the box only shows how to slot panels together. No dimensions. The online page also omits sizing details. Plumber had already cut pipes. We needed to drain part of the system to stop leaks. That left us with no basin for a few days while we waited for a return visit. I use this sink every morning and the kids use it too, so it was annoying. Customer services said it is a generic unit and should be cut to size. They suggested reading a PDF manual and that customers should own a pipe cutter. They refused to accept responsibility for the extra call-out fee or the inconvenience. Delivery itself was fine; it was the missing information that caused the trouble. The basin itself works fine now. It’s solid and does the job, though there are a couple of small marks on one panel. Not perfect, but usable. I’ll look at other suppliers next time.
Delivery bait-and-switch
“that’s the process” and the most they’d offer was a £6 refund. They refused to use a different courier to get it to me on Saturday or do anything else to fix it. Mildly annoying, and I’m pragmatic about refunds, but I didn’t get what I paid extra for.
So, practical advice: don’t assume the named delivery fee means better handling. If you must have something on a specific day, push hard for confirmation or don’t pay the supplement. I won’t order like that again. Not the smoothest delivery
Saw their ad on Facebook after a mate tipped me off, thought it'd be fine for a quick bathroom update before the baby. Felt a bit unsure but went ahead — and that initial scepticism was spot on for a while. First delivery arrived with the vanity cracked and the toilet seat split. When I phoned customer service they promised a 9.30am replacement the next day, which never turned up. On the call they basically shrugged and blamed the couriers, saying breakages happen, and told us to get rid of the damaged bits ourselves — more time and cost for us, which was maddening with a nine-month pregnant partner at home.
Delivery and service let-down
good price, seemed in stock. I went ahead because I needed it for a booked fitter. Big mistake. The whole thing became a lesson in poor communication and slow processing.
A decent look, rotten follow-through
I never expected to be writing about a toilet mechanism in so much detail, but here we are. We had a mid-range bathroom suite fitted professionally for a property development about a year ago. Fitters did a good job. The suite looked fine. That’s the positive bit I’ll stick with. After only a few months of very light use — two of us, long hours away most days — the internal cistern mechanism started to fail. Small bit, big nuisance. The loo wouldn’t flush properly and bits were falling apart inside the cistern. Not what you expect after such a short time.
I got in touch expecting a reasonable response. Instead I was told that bathrooms only have a 12-month lifespan. That line surprised me. It’s one thing to sell a product. It’s another to shrug when it breaks so quickly and then suggest the customer had misused it. I was actually accused of misusing the unit. Misused a toilet mechanism? That made me bristle. The rep sounded certain they weren’t at fault. It felt like a brush-off.
Replacing that small mechanism will cost hundreds when you add parts and a plumber. For a product that’s meant to be standard, that price sting is frustrating. The worst bit is the inconvenience. We’ve been left using an old downstairs lavatory while the new one is out of action. The downstairs loo has done its job for decades. That contrast — an old, reliable fixture versus a brand-new suite failing after months — is hard to swallow.
Also, the ordering process wasn’t slick. Their website wouldn’t accept delivery to our area at first. We live in Birmingham; not exactly remote. After getting the basket together I had to phone to place the order. The site then worked sporadically. It’s annoying to waste time like that. I’ve had better experiences with other suppliers where the online checkout is straightforward and customer service actually troubleshoots rather than blames.
So, overall I’m mixed. I like how the suite looks and the install was tidy. But the fragility of a key part and the company’s attitude made the whole thing sour. If you’re weighing options, bear in mind the potential for hassle and additional charges. I’m disappointed more than angry, but it’s left a wary taste. I’ll be more careful where I buy from next time.Spare part enquiry
I got in touch recently to ask about a spare part for a shower enclosure that I bought 15 months ago. Freya was really helpful in sorting out my request. She made sure to get all the info needed and find the exact part I was looking for. She kept me updated all the way through and made sure everything was sorted out smoothly. I couldn't have asked for better customer service.
Bathroom Gully
I had to buy a bathroom gully quickly because my usual suppliers didn't have any in stock. I thought I'd try Big Bathroom Shop and I was really happy with the quality and price of the gully I got. It's really good quality and the price was fair. I'm impressed with the product and I'll definitely be using it as my top choice for concrete floors from now on.
Tap replacement
I bought a push button tap from this company not too long ago and I have to say, I was really impressed with how professional and helpful they were. Right from when I ordered it, the team did everything they could to make sure I was happy with my purchase. They delivered it quickly and even helped me out with any questions I had when I was fitting it.
Bath, taps, and sundries
I was really impressed with the bathroom shop I found! It was such a relief to actually talk to someone who knew about plumbing. I did have a small issue during the ordering, but the advisor was able to assist me and sort everything out. I ordered a bath, two sets of taps, and a few other bits, and it arrived the very next day - so quick! I haven't had a chance to try out the products properly yet, but they all seem to be good quality. Overall, I'm really pleased and would definitely recommend this shop to others.
My spare part purchase
I needed a spare part for my bathroom and the people at this shop were absolutely fantastic! They were really helpful and knew exactly what I was looking for. They sorted it out swiftly, kindly, and to top it off, they didn't charge me a penny! They really went the extra mile and I am over the moon with how they helped me out.
Digital shower purchase
I purchased a digital shower from this store and it worked really well for 4 years, but then the power button stopped functioning. When I got in touch with them, they were incredibly helpful and resolved the issue promptly. Big shoutout to Holly for being amazing and offering excellent customer service. I really appreciate it!
Bath filler
I bought a bath filler from this shop not too long ago, and I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised. The product is really good quality, the price was fair, and it looks amazing in my bathroom. The service I received was top-notch, and the delivery was right on time. To sum it up, I'm really pleased with my purchase and the whole shopping experience.
Shower system purchase
I absolutely love Big Bathroom Shop! When I had some queries about my shower system plans, the customer service team were incredibly prompt and supportive. They helped me out quickly and efficiently. When I needed to return an item, they sorted it out in no time and I got my refund back within just 2 days. The delivery was super fast and, even better, it was free! Their range of products is huge and everything I've bought so far has been top quality. This place is my go-to for bathroom shopping now, I really enjoy it!
