Household goods are products that are purchased for use within a home. They consist of those tangible and movable home properties placed in living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, family rooms, great rooms, recreation rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, toilets, hallways, attics, and basements, and other parts of a house. Examples of household goods include air conditioners, baby items, toys, dishes and dishwashers, towels, computers, irons and ironing boards, first aid boxes, televisions, and many others. Households are an important concept in microeconomics. The term ‘household’ refers to both the physical structure and the people or person who live(s) inside it. A household is a social unit consisting of a group (or an individual) living in a home e.g., a nuclear family, a collection of adults, a person living alone but may have guests sometimes, etc. Hence, when economists talk about ‘household spending,’ they are talking about expenditures per home or social unit. The production and purchase of household goods constitute an important part of the national economy. Their safety is often regulated by governments, who also promote and enable their import and export.According to Thomson Reuters Business Classification, companies that produce household goods can be grouped into three sub-categories: home furnishings; appliances, tools, and housewares as well as consumer electronics. Home furnishings include items like chairs, tables, lamps, rugs, antiques, art collections, wall clocks, beds, wardrobes, etc. Under appliances, tools and housewares are air conditioners, toasters, cutlery, refrigerators, etc. The last sub-category includes entertainment items like television sets, DVD players, video games, remote controls, etc. household goods can also be categorized based on whether they are temporary or permanent in nature, for example, food is not ‘permanent in nature since it can be consumed at any time. If I buy an apple today, it may not stay long in my fridge because somebody can eat it at any time. However, devices and utensils used to prepare food (such as pots and electric stoves) are permanent in nature because they will remain in a home for several months and even years after purchase. I've been a customer of Bother for the last 4 months. All the deliveries were always on time, complete (no stupid substitutes!) and as I kept making orders, the ordering process have been becoming more and more easy, because my usuals just kept popping into my box and I only had to approve it (without looking for it). I grew to rely on Bother until yesterday, when a big problem with delivery happened. My box was delivered to a wrong address and was damaged beyond saving (2 cartons of milk spilled out, soaking everything else and ruining the other items). I was really upset about the whole situation and contacted Bother to sort it out. They were amazing. I mean – AMAZING. They replied within 3 minutes, processed a refund in under 10 minutes and organised for a delivery (free of charge!) of all the damaged and misdelivered items, and went over and beyond to make sure this time it went to the correct address. I cannot praise Bother enough. There is a Polish saying that good friends you recognise in troubles. Well, there were some troubles, and Bother went though it with flying colours, without missing a bit and making me trust them and rely on them even more. Well done, guys! Thank you for being there and for being bothered 😉
