Pokémon books
Got them on Mon 5 April great book. The only bad thing is Hermes who delivered them are trying to scam me. They said they miss me and now they are trying to charge me. I was thinking again I would do this online but the experience of Herne trying to scam me as put me off so I will get them from store and not on line. Will u please sorted it
500 piece jigsaw puzzels
Having bought 4 jigsaw puzzle's as presents I can not fault the delivery time or condition of box upon arrival, but two of the puzzles had been cut very badly and a number of pieces had de-laminated as well as being bent and deformed, had the shop been open I would have returned them but the internet is too much hassle.
Amazing art and craft supplies
I really love the works because of their range and variations. Not just that they have amazing price tags which suit my requirements too.
Tilting sun parasol
The parasol I ordered *clearly* shows it has a tilt facility which is what I needed.
What I *got, was a basic parasol with no tilt mechanism.
I wasted money and now have to spend *more* money buying the item I needed with a tilt mechanism. Where the tilt part should be, a bit of scratched metal pole has been put. It's jammed in so hard that the parasol pole has started to split.Jigsaw
I bought a jigsaw for my mum in February. She had completed it in March to find a piece was missing.I contacted the works and was told to take it to any store and get a refund. Great I thought. Due to the covid store closures it was May before I could return it. I was told in the store (Hillsborough) that because I had paid by PayPal originally, then the refund would be credited back to my PayPal account. I am still waiting after several weeks.I've made several phone calls and sent several emails and all I get are empty promises.
In summary, if you buy from The Works, don't expect any consumer rights. Once they have your money, they are keeping it, whether you return the faulty merchandise or not !!Avoid!
AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! I ordered some bits from the works because I was being bombarded with messages daily saying I had to use my loyalty reward by end of June, I placed an order for 8 items totalling £14.00 (minus delivery), i had £3.70 in loyalty points. So once I received my order and an item for my daughter from there (costing £4.00) broke within 10 minutes of her having it I contacted them and they issued me a refund, when I received the refund I received 30p back. When I questioned this, they said this is how their returns work, they refund the loyalty amount first then whatever is left back to the card which is totally unacceptable, I am never going to use the works again so for an item i paid £4.00 I've received 30p refund.
The £3.70 should have been spread equally over the whole order £3.70 divided by the 8 items = 46p, so now I have been refunded it should have worked out £4.00 minus 46p = £3.54, but NO they issue all the loyalty money back first then give you the rest back to your card so they give you back the loyalty but I still have to spend it by end of June if not its lost. Rip off, robbing people in broad daylight, giving people no option but to shop with you or lose out on the money!!! I was a loyal customer to you over the years but never again will I or any of my family ever use you again.
Oh and not to mention I rung you back Saturday at 12:15pm and said your closed when your website says you close 12:30pm, and your customer service lady said she will call me straight back and she didnt.
The whole lot a shambles!!!Acrylic paints
I ordered some acrylic paints online via ebay as they did not have them in our local store. I paid for RM 2nd Class delivery, but after 10 days no sign of them. I contacted The Works Customer Services to obtain "delayed delivery" compensation via the RM and they said I had to wait 14 days to claim for a LOST delivery (not what I asked for) when I replied this was NOT what I requested they repeated the 14 day hiatus, but also added that they used Whistl couriers to handle the parcel. As I paid for Royal Mail this seems strange and against their supply terms, but explains why RM compensation could not be invoked! I have emailed The Works CEO about their very poor customer services and unagreed use of Whistl for (non) delivery. I am also making a claim via ebay for non-delivery. It seems a lottery whether you will get your goods on time or at-all and "Customer Service" just seems to be the name of the department with no understanding of what this means.
Gifts
Disguisting. Box was wet and all item packaging was soggy. Was only refunded £5.50 when I spent 72 pounds on soggy boxes

Jig saw puzzles. I like a challenge but having just spent many many hours on a jigsaw called Butterflies dance I am annoyed. This is 1000 piece puzzle and 256 pieces are not shown on the picture on the box, including all the outline pieces and a large area on the left hand side. This puzzle was going to be challenging at best. There are some very small pictures on the side of the box but even so not all the picture is provided. The detail is also so small which doesn't help anyone with even slight sight impairment. Another company I have used includes a paper picture inserted in the box even though it can all be seen on the box lid. A good idea because both box and lid can be used to sort out pieces - a lot easier to see for sorting with half the pieces in each. The colours are vibrant which helps a lot but this chunk of missing picture needs sorting. They could use ... boxes like other companies to get all the picture on the lid.
