    Assistance and recovery service

    I've been part of this assistance and recovery service since 2016 and I've had to rely on them 3 times over the years. On each occasion, the service has been top-notch. The first time, I was up in Scotland and accidentally put the wrong fuel in my vehicle. The team sorted everything out, getting a recovery truck to take us and our campervan back to our campsite. They even sorted out draining and refilling the tank on the same day. The second time, my Land Rover had a problem with the starter in the Lake District, and a mechanic turned up quickly to fix it. The third time, I got a flat tire on the busy M6 with no spare, and the team came to our rescue within 30 minutes, making sure we got back home safely. Overall, I've been really impressed with the service and how professional the staff are. I would definitely recommend them to anyone!

    Roadside assistance service

    Recently, I had to use the roadside assistance service for the first time in around 3 years since I joined. I was really happy with how quickly they responded and how efficient the service was. Unlike a past experience I had with a different company where I had to wait for hours, this service had a professional arrive within an hour and sort out my locked keys in just a few minutes. They kept me updated on when they would arrive and the mechanic who came was really great at fixing the problem. All in all, I'm really pleased with the service and would definitely recommend it to anyone else who needs roadside assistance.

    I've actually had to call for breakdown help twice within the last year, and I must say I was really impressed both times by how quickly and professionally they sorted me out. The app made it super simple to report what had happened, and the call was dealt with really quickly. It was nice to be kept in the loop about the recovery process, and I felt a huge sense of relief when they turned up with the right vehicle and know-how to get my motorcycle sorted.     Breakdown cover

    I've been using this breakdown cover service for years now, and I've had to call them out for help with about six breakdowns on various vehicles. Every time I've phoned them, they've been speedy in sending a local mechanic to check things out. The mechanic usually figures out if it's a simple fix or if we need a recovery, and then there's another wait for the recovery truck to show up. The experts who've come out each time have been really clued up and good at dealing with the problem.

The staff were really friendly and kept me informed about the arrival time of the recovery truck. The driver of the recovery truck was also really nice and made sure I was alright. I would definitely say GEM is the way to go, they really saved the day!

    Motorcycle breakdown assistance

    I had a rear tyre blow out on my bike, so I called the breakdown assistance service. They showed up in around an hour with a van made for motorbikes. They securely strapped down my bike, and we got driven 90 miles back home. The driver was really good and got us home safely. All in all, it was a good experience and I would definitely recommend them.

    Even though I decided to sign up for breakdown assistance with GEM due to good reviews, I ended up really disappointed with the actual service. When my car broke down, I used the app straight away to let GEM know. However, it took way too long for them to even contact a recovery firm. I was left stranded for over an hour, which was not cool at all. They claim to have lots of local recovery firms on standby, but that wasn't my experience at all. Despite me asking multiple times, I didn't get any call backs or updates. When I called them for an update, the customer service person didn't seem to know what was going on. After waiting for over an hour, a recovery firm from Braintree had to come all the way to Newmarket to help us out. This level of service was really disappointing and now I have no plans to renew my membership with them.

    My experience with GEM Motoring Assist was a bit of a mixed bag. When my wife used their services for a home start, they were quick and helpful, which was fantastic. However, when my motorcycle broke down last week, it was a different story. The staff were polite and tried to assist, but waiting 3 hours for recovery was just not on. Being stuck near a busy road for so long was irritating and kind of risky. It made me doubt how well they handle things and if they can be depended on in a real emergency.
