The good reviews are all lies. This is hands down the WORST rental experience I have ever received and that is saying a lot as I have used many. Turo is far better if you need good price and easy access. Virtuo is better if you are looking for good quality vehicles.
My experience was so horrendous that I will no longer use this service. The technology is highly lacking and continuously fails. Plan to pick up the car 3 hours ahead of your initial planned time because there will be issues. Run late 20 minutes and you will be charged at least £11 and given terrible customer support.
This is a cash grab company who just want your money and not even decent enough to look after the renters in any occasion. The whole experience is enough to blacklist this company.
I would rather use enterprise. You failed me but maybe in 10 years you will learn how to change. I truly wish I could give less than 1 star.
The one positive is that they are very quick at taking money from your account and they close your account in seconds without any empathy. That is their one USP.
In theory Hiyacar's model of peer to peer car hire is great and I have used the platform several times now, however in practice the are problems. When one car broke down the AA refused to collect it because it didn't have valid tax (expired 3 months prior) or an MOT (expired 8 months prior), this inadvertently voided the insurance and breakdown polices. Despite a failure on their part that could be seen as gross negligence by not conducting regular vehicle checks by the dedicated team already in place (30 second online check using registration details), Hiyacar said they "were not under contract to supply a roadworthy vehicle" and "roadworthiness of their car is the responsibility of the car owner". As a driver of said vehicle, this could have lead to a total of 9 points on my clean licence and over £3500 in fines. Eventually they offered a good will gesture of £120 which I view as a clear reflection of how serious they took the incident and how profit led they are. I will avoid using Hiyacar again and stick to trusted hire companies in the future.
I've now hired cars through Hiyacar three times and always great. I've found out cheaper than traditional hire car, more convenient locations to collect / return cars and nice how it can be picked up / dropped off 24/7.
I hired my car with Hiyacar for the first time. After the duration of the hiring the driver returned the car with damage. She hit the car somewhere and there are marks everywhere. She denied the incident and pretend she didn't know and didn't see. I have sent my claim with pictures of the damage to the company on the same day. It has been a month since and never heard from them. First they sent an Insurance Agreement which mentioned the damages and scratches to the cars were not considered payable.. nothing mentioned in any part of the Insurance section when you register your car with them. What is bad is that I have had to chase hiyacar constantly and yet they are not able to give any information because it is never their department and they tell me someone will get back to me and I still hear nothing. Worse than that I am still waiting for the payment for the 4 days rental, almost a month and I am still waiting considering that the costumer service is the worse I have ever seen... once again they cannot give any information regarding payments because it is not their department and someone will get back to you...
hiyacar won't refund £110 to fix a flat tyre for a "death trap" car
The car I rented through hiyacar got a flat tyre on the motorway. There was no spare so I had to spend £110 to have an emergency tyre fitted. The AA breakdown report also identified many defects with the car and that it was not fit for purpose. My journey was delayed by many hours and I arrived home after midnight. Despite this nightmare experience hiyacar have not said they will refund me.
What is even worse is that I have had to chase hiyacar constantly and yet they never reply when I contact them. I've sent them five emails and never had a reply to one. Whenever I phone they tell me someone will get back to me and I still hear nothing.
It has been a long time since I've experienced customer service this bad. It is extremely unfair I am out of pocket for fixing a car I do not own and was described as a "death trap" by the AA mechanic. Yet hiyacar won't take responsibility nor explain what is going on.
The sad part for me is that I convinced my girlfriend to use hiyacar for our trip when her preference was to go through a regular rental company. I made the case for them and because of that we agreed to hire through hiyacar which I felt would be a much better option. I feel badly let down.

Today this is an essential service and need to make it in maximum practice for environment and minimized traffic on roads and street. Best benifit is to meet new friends,good friends every day. I am using only this sharing segment for last 19 months. Yes this is important to share with you,my own cars (two) on rent from Hiyacar only and earning good money monthly. Double benifit.
