Romantic honeymoon retreat
My partner and I had such a lovely time recently, staying at a hidden gem in a beautiful forest. The place was so clean and cozy, and we absolutely loved relaxing in the hot tub - pure luxury! We also made good use of the gas bbq, which was a nice touch. The staff were so friendly and attentive, and it was such a sweet gesture when our lodge cleaner surprised us with a bottle of prosecco when she found out we were on our honeymoon. She even gave us some great tips on local walking trails, which turned out to be absolutely stunning and peaceful. We were delighted by the wildlife around the lodge, especially a cute squirrel that kept popping by. Our whole experience at this retreat was truly magical, and we're already making plans to come back next year with our kids.
Good
I love nature a lot. I'm a down-to-earth kinda person and I don't like hurting animals too. But I've always wanted to explore a forest at least once and it was a dream come true through Forest Holidays. I used their services only once and with what I experienced, it won't be long till I'm gonna need their services again. They make nature exploit a thrilling experience. You won't believe the views in the forest. They are heavenly views that keep your imaginations boiling for a long time.
Forest Holidays is gonna be my next appointment very soon. I'm being to get addicted to exploring in the forest. I'm gonna do all these Britain forests till I'm satisfied and feel accomplished enough to stop for a while.Short break at a forest lodge
My partner, our dog, and I fancied a little getaway to a forest lodge and honestly, we had an amazing time. The lodge was spotless, roomy, and had everything we required - even a dishwasher in the kitchen which was surprisingly well-stocked. We treated ourselves to pizza on the Friday evening, and it showed up bang on time and tasted absolutely divine. The setting was so serene and quiet, it was just what we needed to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The staff, especially Wullie, were so lovely and made sure we were well taken care of, making our stay super comfy and enjoyable. We're definitely thinking about coming back for another chilled-out break in the future.
Family weekend celebration
The weekend we spent at the site near Coleford for my 80th birthday celebration was absolutely perfect. The location was great as it was easy for all my family members coming from different parts of the country to get to. The recommendation for The White Horse at Staunton for a celebratory meal was brilliant, the food was tasty and the atmosphere was lovely. We also had a nice walk along the Wye and visited Symonds Yat, which had stunning views. The best part of our stay was having barbecues together on our verandah, followed by relaxing in the hot tub. Even Rosey the dog had a brilliant time! Overall, it was a weekend full of fun and relaxation that we will always remember.
High expectations let down
During my recent stay at a cabin, I was left really disappointed. The floors were filthy, the surfaces were grubby, and the sofa was so uncomfortable. Even though I've stayed in many self-catering places over the past 20 years, I've never come across somewhere that didn't even have salt and pepper on the table. The café on site was a total letdown too, with a ridiculous 40-minute wait for a terrible breakfast. I can't understand how hard it is to warm up a croissant. When I complained about the dirt and bad service, I was just told they were short of staff. This place definitely didn't meet the expectations of a luxury holiday lodge. The shower in the ensuite hardly worked, the oven cooked things unevenly for no reason, and the kitchen cupboard doors were wonky. Even after paying for the top WiFi deal, the signal was awful and there were hardly any TV channels. And to make it worse, I came back one day to find no heating, hot water, or electricity, so I had to cut my trip short. For the amount they charge, you'd expect them to have backup generators for power cuts. To sum up, I'd recommend people to avoid this place.
Cabin overlooking the lake
The cabin I stayed in was absolutely gorgeous, with a stunning view of the lake. It was so neat and tidy, which really made my stay super comfy. The reception staff were really nice and helpful, and checking in and out was a piece of cake. The restaurant there had a great variety of delicious food. Overall, it was a really lovely place to go and I had a really great time during my stay.
Nature retreat experience
My time at the nature retreat was just fantastic. When I got there, I was surrounded by such peaceful vibes and felt all my stresses melt away. The cabin was lovely and had everything I needed to relax and get away from all the usual chaos. The staff were so nice and made sure I had a great stay. I loved exploring all the nature trails and getting stuck into outdoor activities - it really helped me appreciate the forest's beauty. All in all, my time there was super rejuvenating and just what I needed to feel refreshed.
Short break in comfortable cabin with hot tub
My partner and I had a lovely little holiday in a cosy cabin with a hot tub recently. Even though it rained most of the time, we managed to chill out and de-stress in the quiet beauty of Sherwood Forest. The people running the retreat were really nice and helpful, making sure we had delicious breakfasts and taking good care of our dog too, with plenty of things for him to enjoy.
Deerpark stay keywords
I had such an amazing time at Deerpark! The hot tub was fantastic and they made sure to check it twice a day. The BBQ was in great condition, the cabin was really spacious and cosy, the staff were all so friendly and helpful, and the maintenance guy was super speedy in fixing our fridge. Overall, we had a really great time!
Stayed at the Forest Lodges
The Forest Lodges are a great spot for a holiday, but they could do with some tweaks to make it easier to dry out wet and muddy gear after all the outdoor activities in our lovely British weather. We usually go for a 2-bedroom lodge, even though it's just the two of us, to have a bit more room to stretch out.
Sherwood Forest stay
I stayed in a lovely forest location recently and the staff there were really friendly, helpful, and knew loads, especially during the night walk to see animals. I would definitely recommend it and I'd be happy to stay there again in the future.
Stayed here, van broken into
Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with that stay at your establishment. My husband and I were guests from the 20th of May 2024 for a total of four nights. Unfortunately, on the last night, his van was broken into and all of his work tools, amounting to over £7000, were stolen. The manager on duty did not seem to care or want to listen to our concerns. The police informed us that this has been an ongoing issue for quite some time, with break-ins occurring regularly over the past few months. The only security measure that was in place was two patrols around the property at night. It took us over four days to finally get in touch with the head office, who seemed to have no idea about the incident despite reassurances that the information had been passed on. The lack of empathy and failure to offer any form of compensation was extremely disappointing. While we were informed that the holiday booking itself could not be refunded, the head office hung up on me, displaying a complete lack of professionalism in addressing customer concerns. As I am currently seven months pregnant and anticipating maternity, the loss of £7000 and the feeling of not being secure during our stay were deeply distressing. I urge you to take immediate action to address these security concerns and improve customer service.
Private lodge, clean, welcome hamper
The lodge was really secluded and spotless, which made it a pleasure to stay in. The welcome hamper was full of top-quality treats that really made our stay special. The grandkids had a brilliant time and are already asking when we can come back!
Sherwood Pines review
Sherwood Pines has been our favourite place for the last ten years because it's in a great location near the forest. The staff there have always been brilliant, sorting out any problems straight away. However, the cabins are starting to look a bit tired and could do with some improvements. The main thing that annoyed me was that I found out the price of our cabin had dropped a lot just a week before we visited, and I had already paid for some extras. Next time, I think I'll wait until the last minute to book so I can save some money.
Cancelled cabin booking
I can't believe how unprofessional and inconsiderate this company has been. We booked a cabin months ago and paid in full, only to receive an email just 11 days before our trip saying that the property wasn't ready and our reservation was cancelled. They didn't even apologise, and the three options they offered us weren't any good. We had to rush to find somewhere else to stay, which ended up costing us nearly £1000. This kind of treatment is just not on and it's definitely put us off recommending this company to others.
Expensive forest trips
I've been on quite a few forest holidays before and usually they've been pretty good. But my last trip to a particular forest spot didn't quite hit the mark. The road to the cabins was full of big potholes that wrecked my car, so I don't fancy going back. And to add to that, we had a whole day without water or power, and the company didn't even apologise or offer anything to make up for it. It's annoying when a company doesn't own up to problems that happen during your stay. I was hoping for better customer service, so I'll be checking out other holiday companies for my future trips.
Trip to Delamere Forest
I went to this forest spot, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a nightmare. The views were nice and all, but the state of the roads wrecked my car and ended up costing a fortune to fix. And then to top it off, the company didn't offer enough money to cover the expensive lodge.
Stay at Blackwood Forest
The lodge was really dirty, with dirt all over the place, toothpaste marks on the door frame, and the sofa was just awful - smelly and uncomfortable. It didn't help that there was no housekeeping during our stay. They were also lacking in amenities - no condiments, tea, coffee, or basic toiletries. And charging extra for towels was a bit cheeky, especially when there was nowhere to hang them in the ensuite bathroom to dry. The staff were a mixed bag, with some using inappropriate language and others just not very helpful. The setting was nice, but the lodges themselves were tired and poorly maintained, really bringing down the whole experience.
Recent holiday experience
It's just a shame to see how the standard of the accommodation has gone downhill over the years. The lodges don't seem as clean and fresh as they used to be, and everything feels a bit sticky. The worktops and windows are all looking tired and worn out. It's really disappointing to pay double the price and not get the quality we used to expect. A refurbishment is definitely needed. We still love the locations and the idea of the holiday, but it's sad to see the original sites not being maintained while new ones are being opened. And it was really annoying to find out that we couldn't use my wife's NHS discount during school holidays. Feels like a bit of a rip-off, to be honest.
