Shocked at the ferry experience!
I can't believe what happened on our recent ferry trip. It was so terrible! We usually go twice a year, but this time the price was way too high after covid. We ended up paying double our usual fare, which is insane! The ferry itself was really old and run-down, almost like being on a movie set for a bad film. There were hardly any facilities, it felt more like being on a P.O ferry or something! Like, seriously? When you book something, you expect it to be what you paid for. It's like ordering from M&S and getting an Asda delivery truck - not cool at all. They did mention it was a smaller ferry, but I didn't realise it would be this bad! And no disabled access, I mean come on! So not cool at all.
Recent ferry journey
I've used the ferry to Ireland many times before, but my last trip was a bit of a letdown. The boarding was a mess, all hectic and confusing, which stressed everyone out for no reason. And then, to top it off, I saw a customer having a go at the restaurant staff, only to be met with rudeness back. It was clear the staff weren't great at dealing with people, and their English skills were lacking. It wasn't a good look. In general, the service just wasn't up to scratch compared to what I've had before with this ferry company.
Ferry journey from Rosslare to Pembroke
I had a really awful experience with this ferry service. The ship was old, dirty, and the seats were uncomfortable. It felt more like I was on a freighter than a normal passenger ferry. The service was really bad too, the staff didn't seem interested in helping passengers at all. It's a shame that Irish Ferries are not as good as competitors like the Stena Line. I wouldn't suggest this ferry service to anyone looking for a pleasant and comfy journey.
Travel experience on the ferry
I had a really lovely time on the ferry recently. It was so nice and clean, and clearly well looked after, making it a comfortable and relaxed place for everyone on board. There were loads of different seats to choose from, so no one struggled to find a spot they liked. The food options were great too - all kinds of different things to suit different tastes, from light bites to big meals. The restaurant on board, Boylans Brasserie, was a real highlight for me, especially for breakfast. The food was top-notch and the service was quick and friendly. The staff, especially Ana, were really nice and helpful. She made sure everyone had a good journey. Overall, I was really happy with my time on the ferry, and I'd definitely travel with them again in the future.
Food quality on ferry
I had a good recent experience on the ferry from Holyhead to Dublin - the crossing was smooth and I didn't have any problems. But I was really let down by the food quality. I bought two sandwiches thinking they'd be nice, but they were terrible. They were so dry and tasted like cardboard, even though they were supposed to be fresh (with one day left before the use-by date). On top of that, when I tried to give some feedback to a staff member, they either couldn't understand English or just acted like they didn't. It left me feeling really frustrated and like nobody was listening. My advice to other passengers would be to avoid buying any food on the ferry and either bring your own or get something before you get on board.
Ferries crossing review
My trip on the ferry from Pembroke to Rosslare and back with the Norbay was really disappointing. There wasn't a lift on the ship, so passengers who can't use the stairs found it difficult to get around. The walkway wasn't sheltered from the weather, and the seats were really uncomfortable with no cushions. Even though it was supposed to be an "Economy Ferry," there was no discount offered despite the poor service during the long four-hour journey. It was also disappointing to find out that the ferry was run by a company with a questionable reputation for how they treat their staff. After this experience, I'll definitely be looking to travel with a different company in the future.
Cancelled ferry trip
My ferry from Dublin to Cherbourg was cancelled due to a strike! They gave me two choices - a later ferry or this insane land bridge where I have to drive through Wales and England to reach Calais. And I still have to pay for my own hotel in Calais even though I was meant to be on their ferry! It's just so unfair!
Ferry booking
The website was so confusing, I couldn't even see how much the ferry was going to cost. It was really difficult to figure out how to register, all I could see was a login option. I tried to contact customer service by both calling and sending messages, but I didn't receive any response. They definitely need to update their website if they want more customers to book with them.
First-time booking with the ferry company
The way they dealt with cancelling things was really quite bad, they didn't seem to care much about the customers' feelings. They didn't really focus on looking after their reputation either, which has made me definitely not want to use this ferry company again.
Overpriced goods
I went on a trip with this ferry company not long ago, and at first, the prices seemed fair. However, I was surprised to find that the prices had gone up on the way back. The cost of a pint of Guinness and lager had both increased by €1, which made me feel a bit exploited. I think it's fine to charge reasonable prices, but hiking them up like that just isn't a good look for any business. My advice is to bring your own drinks and snacks to avoid feeling like you're being overcharged by this ferry company.
Ferry booking for passenger and car journey
I have to say, my recent ferry trip wasn't great. It was really crowded, and the facilities for passengers weren't up to scratch. My wife, who has a bad knee, struggled to get around because of the narrow stairs and outdoor walk to reception. On top of that, we found out there was no club class lounge or cabins available, so we had to sit uncomfortably on a small couch the whole time. It seemed like the ferry was more focused on freight than looking after the passengers, and the safety measures weren't great. All in all, it was a disappointing experience, and I wouldn't recommend it for future trips.
W B Yeats ferry crossing experience
The ferry W B Yeats was a bit late leaving on 21st January 2023 at 3:20 pm because of Storm Isha. Even though it was tough with strong winds and rough seas at 60mph, the journey was surprisingly comfortable and safe. The crew on board were really nice, polite, and super professional, which made us feel secure and well looked after the whole way. It definitely highlighted how crucial safety and professionalism are when sailing through stormy waters.
Cheap ferry tickets
I don't understand why people are complaining so much. I managed to get my tickets for half the price compared to other places. I was also able to board earlier ferries without any additional charges or issues. Even though I arrived really early at Calais, I still got on the next ferry. The staff were friendly and helpful, despite there being some queues at check-in. But you know what, I reached my destination, and that's all that really counts!
Ferry service experience
I was really disappointed with my recent ferry trip as a customer. I was looking forward to it at first, but was let down by the poor facilities and unprofessional service. Instead of the nice passenger ferry I was expecting, I got stuck on what felt like a cargo ship with not enough amenities. On top of that, there weren't enough staff on board, which meant things closed up just two hours into the trip. It was really disappointing to see such a lack of customer care and safety measures, and it made the journey pretty grim. What's more, there was a strange incident where the crew seemed to vanish, leaving passengers to sort things out themselves - not good for safety at all. After this experience, I don't think I'll be traveling with this company again, even though I've been a loyal customer for a long time.
Flexi ticket purchase
I bought a flexi ticket from the ferry company so I could change or cancel my booking without any extra charges. But, when I had to cancel my ferry due to unexpected circumstances, I not only lost the money I paid for the flexi ticket, but was also hit with cancellation fees. The company falsely claimed there would be no cancellation fees with the flexi option, which left me feeling cheated. They also reduced my refund because of supposed price changes, even though I should be entitled to a full refund with the flexi ticket. I am really disappointed with how this was handled and will be taking my concerns further.
Overpriced travel on Norbay
Irish Ferries should be ashamed of themselves for charging so much for the Norbay ferry. I mean, I was on the ferry with horses going to the UK and they had nicer seats and facilities than us humans did! If you're heading to Rosslare, definitely go with Stena Line instead of this rip-off ferry. I really wish I could exchange my return ticket. I would give them zero stars if I could, but for now, they only get one star from me.
Travel from Pembroke to Rosslare
The trip from Pembroke to Rosslare is usually nice because we went on the Oscar Wilde this time around. But, the substitute ferry we took this time was not great. They didn't mention anything on the website beforehand, and the new ferry wasn't really set up well for people who struggle to move around easily.
Trip to the island
I really used to enjoy coming here, but recently it's been taking so long to actually get on the boat. Plus, there never seems to be enough room for everyone. I reckon they should sort out their timetable and bring in some bigger boats!
Ferry trip experience
I recently took a ferry from Pembroke to Rosslare and honestly, it was a proper letdown. The whole trip lasted a gruelling 4 hours and the cabins were dirty, making everything way more uncomfortable. And to top it off, on the way back my car decided to break down. When I tried to use my ticket for another 2 days like they said, I ended up being charged all over again. It was just a right nightmare and needless to say, I won't be using that ferry service again.
