Travel booking for flight, hotel, and car rental in Belfast
I recently booked a return flight, hotel accommodation, and car rental package for an overnight trip to Belfast. Unfortunately, the service I received fell short of my expectations. Firstly, I was only told the day before my trip that my outward flight was not confirmed. I had to contact the airline myself to sort out a new booking with no explanation given for the inconvenience.
Even though I had purchased extra car insurance to cover any extra charges through the booking platform, when I went to pick up the rental car, I was told that the insurance I bought was not valid. This meant I had to pay an extra £76 or provide a £1500 security deposit on my credit card.
To add to my troubles, the return flight had different rules for hand luggage compared to the outbound flight, which caused issues with my cabin bag. Also, the number of emails I received, including multiple ATOL certificates and confirmations from Expedia, only served to increase my frustration.
Overall, the whole booking experience left me feeling disappointed and unlikely to use the service again.Hotel booking
I'm really let down by the service I got from Expedia for my hotel booking. When I got to the hotel, I found out that there wasn't any room left for me. I was stuck with nowhere to stay and no way to get around. I had to spend ages on the phone talking to different people from Expedia, but they couldn't come up with another option for me. It took me an extra 2 hours just to get a refund for the booking.
Family holiday booking
I recently booked a family holiday package through this service, and it was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. Turkish airlines cancelled our return flight, and when I reached out for help, I was reassured that everything would be taken care of. However, not only were we not rebooked on a new flight, but the customer service representative also managed to cancel our entire hotel reservation and was unable to rebook it for the additional day we needed to catch a flight the next day. It was incredibly frustrating as all they had to do was make a simple call to the hotel to extend our stay or find alternative accommodation. This mess was certainly not our fault, yet it seemed that neither Turkish airlines nor the service I had booked through took any responsibility. Now I have to sit around and wait for 7-10 working days for a full refund, which is completely unacceptable in this day and age where refunds should be instant. To make matters worse, my complaint to the company has been met with silence, further solidifying my belief that this company is a complete waste of time. I will definitely not be booking another package holiday through this service again.
Booking travel accommodation
I wish I had listened to the warnings and checked out the reviews before giving this service a go. The fact that there's no real person to talk to about any issues is really frustrating. I tried getting in touch about my itinerary, but it didn't seem to register, and the automated emails didn't help at all. The service I received was just terrible, so I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Refund for a poor hotel booking
I recently stayed at a hotel that had really good reviews, but it was actually terrible. I asked Expedia for a refund, and they sorted it out for me really quickly and efficiently, even though it was outside the cancellation period. I was really impressed with their customer service and how fast they responded.
Hotel booking disaster
I'd booked a hotel weeks ahead, but when I arrived, they said it was all double booked! I was in the hotel manager's office and overheard him talking to Expedia. They claimed they tried to contact me, which was a straight-up lie. They also said all other hotels in Nottingham were full, but it turns out that wasn't true either. The manager called around and managed to find available rooms despite Expedia's claims. In the end, Expedia just cancelled our booking and left us with nowhere to stay. I used to be a fan of Expedia, but after this fiasco, I wouldn't touch them even if they paid me!
Stay booking at a hotel
I recently used a popular online booking platform to book a stay at a hotel in Portland, Dorset, UK. When I arrived at the New Admiralty Hotel, I was surprised to find out that the hotel had actually closed five weeks before my planned stay. This put me in a tough situation because I had already paid £160.0 for my reservation through the online booking platform. Despite this unfortunate turn of events, the booking platform did not inform me about the hotel closure or offer any help in finding another place to stay. Adding to my frustration, I even received a welcome email from the booking platform just yesterday, showing how careless they were about their customers' experiences. Now, I am out of money and will have to go through the process of getting a refund through my Mastercard. This whole situation has been very disappointing, and I would advise others to be careful when using this particular booking platform in the future.
Flight booking experience
I booked some flights using a travel website for a trip to Vietnam, and I chose Vietjet as the airline. Unfortunately, things didn't go smoothly as there were some unexpected changes to the flights and they ended up being cancelled. This left me and my group stuck and needing help, but the booking platform didn't really give us the assistance we needed. After a lot of back and forth, it was clear that they couldn't help us get a refund for the cancelled flights, so we had to deal with the airline ourselves. This lack of support and solution has left me feeling frustrated and let down by the service. In my opinion, the whole booking process was confusing and unhelpful, and it's made me doubt the value of using that kind of service.
New customer experience
Why on earth do we have to give just 1 star for the lowest rating? Zero seems more fitting for the terrible customer service and awful communication between Expedia and the hotel I booked with. I've always stuck with another booking site but thought I'd try Expedia this time around. What a mistake that was. The hotel and Expedia couldn't get their stories straight, and it ended up costing me extra cash. The follow-up assistance is shockingly bad compared to what I'm accustomed to. It's as if they have no regard for their customers whatsoever.
Cancelled reward nights
Oh my God, I was so excited to make use of my reward nights for a hotel stay, but then Hotels.com, which is owned by Expedia, went ahead and cancelled them without even bothering to inform me! They just said I had to make a new booking by a certain date or else my nights would expire - what a terrible deal, right? So I made a new booking and then suddenly, my reward nights disappeared. They tried to be sneaky by using the American date format, but I figured out their tricks! The customer service person was absolutely useless and didn't seem to understand what I was trying to say - it was so frustrating! I even raised my concerns to the CEO, but received no response. I mean, what's the point of having all these fancy people if they don't even care about us customers? It was a total failure, man.
Flight and hotel trip to Rome
I recently booked a flight and hotel trip to Rome through Expedia. Unfortunately, within two hours of making the booking, the flights with the airline were cancelled. This meant that we couldn't make our connection to Rome for the hotel stay. Expedia told me to contact the airline directly, but the airline didn't want to help me because I booked through a third party. It was a real pain trying to get a refund, I wasted so much time with no success. In the end, I had to get my bank involved to chase the money back, and even now, after 3 months, the problem is still not resolved. My whole experience with Expedia was really bad, so I won't be using them again.
Double-charged for accommodation
Dealing with their customer service team has been an absolute nightmare. I tried to get in touch with them multiple times about the double charge for my hotel in Edinburgh, but received no response. Now I have to spend my time disputing the charge with my bank, all because of their incompetence. This has definitely been the worst customer service experience I've ever had.
Hotel booking in Almuñécar, Spain
I had a terrible time booking a hotel in Almuñécar, Spain through this website. The hotel was dirty and not safe at all, which was a big disappointment considering the nice photos and reviews. I tried to complain, but the customer service team ignored me completely. It seemed like they just wanted my money and didn't care about the service. I won't be using this website again in the future.
Long wait times
Today, I spent over three hours trying to get something fixed, but it's still not sorted. I couldn't even get through on the phone as the system didn't recognise my itinerary number. The chat was no help either, as my question wasn't recognised. I even tried Twitter messages for 2.5 hours and still didn't get a useful response. I've been using this site for years, but this time was just awful. I definitely won't be using it again!
Helpful customer service advisor
I had a really good experience with a customer service advisor who helped me cancel a hotel booking. The advisor was super helpful and made sure I didn't have to pay any fees, even though it was last minute. He made a few calls to the hotel to sort it all out, and I really appreciate all his hard work. Big thanks to the advisor and the company for their help.
Disneyland Paris trip booking
I would recommend not choosing to book any trips with this company because they do not provide any flexibility when things don't go as planned. Unfortunately, we couldn't make it to our trip to Disneyland Paris due to some unexpected issues, and Disney was kind enough to offer us the option to change the dates if we had booked directly with them. But because we booked through this company, we had no choice but to stick to their rigid terms and conditions, resulting in us losing everything. This has really upset and disappointed my boys.
Booking my holiday
So, I was booking my holiday, thinking everything would be easy, but then I got the wrong information. Spent hours on the phone trying to sort it out! I was not pleased at all, buddy. It was an absolute nightmare!
Hotel and flights booking
I recently booked a hotel and flights with this company, but then got an email a few days later saying my hotel booking had been cancelled because of fraudulent activity. It was such a pain trying to find another hotel at short notice, and I ended up in a much lower quality place than I had planned. The whole thing was so annoying and really let me down. I've decided I won't be using this company again, that's for sure.
Car hire to Canada
My dad booked a car through this travel website for our holiday in Canada. But when we arrived at the rental car place, they refused to give us the car because their posh card machine didn't accept my dad's card. So, we were left without a car and had to rely on unpleasant buses and costly taxis for getting around. It really put a downer on our trip. And as if that wasn't bad enough, they wouldn't even give us a refund when we went back the next day! Absolutely unacceptable.
Post A level holiday booking
My experience with Expedia was absolutely terrible. My son decided to book his post A level holiday through them and unfortunately, the accommodation he booked was already taken by someone else. He asked for a refund but it was a real struggle because the host couldn't cancel the booking. This meant my son was left without his money for a long 6 weeks. It was so frustrating having to make endless phone calls to sort it out. The customer service centre was no use at all, just giving vague excuses like 'the technical team is working on it' and 'it's with the refund team now, we can't do anything else'. Their slow and dishonest behaviour is shocking. They kept my son's money for weeks, leaving him stuck without being able to book anything else. Don't bother using their services if you actually want your issues sorted out, because they won't give you any real help. Overall, I am completely appalled by the whole experience.
