Accommodation booking
I recently booked a place to stay with this company and I must say, it was a pretty good experience overall. It was easy peasy to book my stay with no issues at all. But when I got to the place, I did have a couple of problems like the heating not doing its job properly and the kitchen appliances looking a bit outdated. But I got in touch with customer service and they sorted it out pretty quickly by sending someone over to fix things up. The staff I talked to were really nice and helpful, which made things a bit easier to deal with. All in all, my stay was alright but there are definitely some things they could work on.
Booking error
I booked a property for a family holiday and then, two weeks later, found out there was a double booking. It was really disappointing and frustrating because my family was really excited for our trip. I also saw that the property was still listed as available on a global website even after I had booked it. I'd suggest booking somewhere else in the future to avoid any uncertainty with your booking.
Family break at lovely cottage
My family (5 adults) and I stayed at this fantastic cottage in South Creake called Egret. It was really clean and well-equipped, with plenty of kitchen supplies and cleaning products. We were welcomed with a pack including teas, coffees, and a delicious cake. The road outside was quite busy and noisy, but the summer house was great, especially for the kids. South Creake is a lovely little village, with the coast nearby as well.
Booking error
I had a really awful time trying to book a holiday rental through this company. Basically, I paid up in full and then got told on the same day that the place I'd booked was actually unavailable because of some booking system mess-up.
Stay at a cottage
I stayed at a cottage in Burnham Market, and honestly, it wasn't great. The place had issues with heating - no hot water and slow taps. There was a shortage of glasses and bowls, and to top it off, the sugar bowl was filthy. Cobwebs littered the place, there was sand in the living room, and I even found sweet wrappers under the bed! And let's not even mention the mini fly invasion. Overall, it was not a pleasant experience at all.
Norfolk coastal cottage stay
I recently had a lovely weekend at a coastal cottage in Norfolk. It was in a great spot for beach days and sightseeing. The cottage was cosy and had all the essentials. However, there were a few niggles that dampened the experience. The kitchen knives were a bit dull, there were no logs for the fire when we arrived, we had to put used linen in bags that weren't there, and the shower tap in the upstairs bathroom was a nightmare to turn on. It's a shame that these little things weren't sorted out, as they would have made our stay much better.
Norfolk Hideaways cottage booking
I booked a cottage with Norfolk Hideaways for a walking holiday in September. Unfortunately, on the 5th day of our stay, we had problems with the central heating in the cottage. We tried following the instructions, but couldn't get it to work, so we ended up feeling cold and let down. Even the gas "wood" burning stove in the living room wasn't real! This was not the high-level service we were hoping for from a supposedly 5-star property. When we contacted Norfolk Hideaways for help, we found out that the owner controls the heating remotely, which was really annoying.
Family holiday accommodation
We recently stayed at a holiday property in South Creake, and let me tell you, it was an absolute nightmare. When we arrived, we found out there was no hot water and the lights kept flickering on and off. After phoning the emergency number, we were assured that someone would come to fix the problems the next morning. Despite the inconvenience, we decided to go to the beach on Saturday, only to get a call informing us about a broken connection between the boiler and digital system. It turns out the electrician had also been called to fix the lights issue. When we returned to the property, everything seemed to be sorted, and we finally had a hassle-free stay. To make things even better, we got a follow-up call on Monday to check everything was still working. Their customer service was excellent, but it makes you wonder, should it really take so much effort for things to run smoothly?
Recent stay at a property in Burnham Deepdale
The property in Burnham Deepdale was a huge letdown. Even though it was an old place, it was clear that keeping it clean wasn't a priority. Dust was everywhere, the cooker was a mess, and the extractor fan had grease all over it. The bedding was of low quality, with stains on the sheets and pillows. One of the pillows didn't even have a pillowcase. The showers were tiny, and the mirrors and floors were dirty. There were missing light bulbs with no spares available, so the dining room had flickering lights all the time. And to make matters worse, there were no recycling bins provided. Overall, I was really disappointed with the condition of the property.
Filthy Sands cottage in Snettersham
We booked Filthy Sands cottage in Snettisham. The place wasn't cleaned properly, the cesspit leaked, and the owner wouldn't sort it out. We got in touch with Norfolk Hideaways, but didn't get any compensation and the problem wasn't fixed. We were really let down by the lack of effort and help. We rent cottages often, but this time has been a let down. I wouldn't suggest staying there.
Holiday booking
This was my first time booking a holiday with Norfolk Hideaways and I have to say, I was really impressed with the service they provided. Unfortunately, I had to change my booking, but the staff were so helpful and efficient. They always replied quickly to my questions and made everything easy and relaxed. The cottage I stayed in was just like they described on the website, and my whole experience was fantastic. I really admire the professionalism of Norfolk Hideaways and I would certainly book with them again in the future.
Last-minute booking at bungalow in Wells next the Sea
I've just got back from spending a week at a bungalow in Wells next the Sea. I booked it last minute with the company. When I arrived, the bungalow looked nice at first glance, but when I took a closer look, I noticed some cleanliness and maintenance issues. There were spiders, dirty windows, dust everywhere, and a cracked window that was just covered with tape. On top of that, there wasn't enough storage for clothes considering the number of bedrooms and bathrooms. The low beam height in the bathroom was also a bit dangerous.
But on the bright side, parking was easy and the back garden was really peaceful.Ringstead House Stay
My recent stay at Ringstead House was a huge disappointment. The pictures on the booking website didn't accurately show what the place was really like. It was clear that the photos were old and didn't match up with how the property actually looked now. The biggest issues were in the kitchen - it was in a terrible state. The dining table was just on the floor with a plastic cover, and the chair cushions were really stained. The whole kitchen was dirty, with utensils near dead flies and cupboards covered in grime. The bedrooms weren't much better, with dirty rugs and smelly grey bedsheets. The sofas in the living rooms were also stained and messy. The only good thing was the bathrooms - they were clean and well looked after. Even though the property had potential and a good layout, the overall lack of cleanliness let it down. We had to spend a lot of time cleaning the kitchen just to make it decent enough for our stay, which was annoying on our holiday. When you book somewhere based on photos online, you expect it to actually look like that in real life - but that wasn't the case with Ringstead House.
Family holiday booking
We had planned a family holiday for a whole week, but unfortunately, we had to cancel well in advance. Despite giving them plenty of notice, they ended up keeping our deposit, which was quite a lot - one-third of the total cost! We understand their rules and all, but it does feel a bit unfair that they couldn't make an exception in this case, especially since we cancelled so early. It seems like they could have easily found someone else to book the cottage. We were a bit let down by their lack of flexibility with their policies. The cottage itself was decent, but they do make it clear that they're more of a booking and management service, so they didn't really take any responsibility for the situation. All in all, it was a bit of a disappointing experience.
Stay at a retreat cancelled after payment
Recently, I booked a stay at a retreat using a well-known booking platform, but the next day, they cancelled my reservation straight after taking my payment. To make matters worse, there was no explanation or apology - just a quick cancellation and a long wait for my refund. Dealing with the whole situation was a total nightmare, and I wouldn't recommend anyone else to book with them. Honestly, it was a joke and has really put me off.
Disappointing experience
I'm just fed up with this company, all they do is make excuses and avoid giving refunds. Instead of owning up to their mistakes, they point fingers at property owners and tell us to rely on travel insurance or credit cards for refunds. Other travel companies are dealing with this issue much better. I've even escalated the matter to the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) because of their poor customer service. It's really disappointing that this company cares more about dodging responsibility than actually keeping their customers happy.
Recent stay at Montgomery Cottage
During my recent trip staying at one of their cottages, I was really let down by the company. I've stayed with them three times before and always had a fantastic time, but this visit was a whole different story. The cottage, Montgomery Cottage in Docking, was honestly in a terrible condition. The glowing reviews I read online just didn't match up with what I actually experienced. I even checked Trip Advisor and saw that others felt the same disappointment. It's a real shame, as I won't be booking with them again since they didn't give me any confidence that future stays would be up to scratch. I'm usually the one recommending holiday spots to my big family and group of friends, so it's a shame they won't be getting any of our business after this.
Sunset, Overstrand property stay
The place is in a beautiful spot with a lovely view, but, to be honest, we were a bit let down by the whole experience. The actual house was not very well looked after - there was hardly any water pressure, the kitchen equipment was lacking, and it definitely needed a fresh coat of paint with marks and scratches on the walls. Plus, it was not very clean - we found cobwebs, spiders, and even some dead light bulbs. And despite promises of a nice welcome pack, we only got the basics. All these problems really took away from what could have been a nice holiday.
Self-catering cottage booking
I have to say, booking this self-catering cottage turned into a complete nightmare. When I arrived, the cups and cutlery were stained, and there were so many chipped plates and bowls. It was not a great start at all. But the real kicker was finding my car scratched when I left, even though I had parked exactly where they told me to. Norfolk Hideaways wouldn't take any responsibility for the damage, which left me with a £250 repair bill. I won't be using their services or booking this cottage again, that's for sure. My advice to anyone thinking of booking this place - watch out for parking problems and lack of accountability.
Booking cancellation due to health issues
I'm sorry, but I had to cancel my booking because of unexpected health problems. I got in touch with the company promptly to explain, but I was let down to find out that I would only get a 50% refund, even if they managed to re-book the property. It doesn't seem right or fair, especially when I've heard that other companies like Airbnb, hotels, and HomeAway have all given full refunds in similar situations. I just want to warn others to be careful and think twice before booking with this company.
