Sneakers purchase
I recently bought some trainers from the shop but I've been really let down by my experience. The quality of the trainers is not great because the coating started to come off after just a few wears. I decided to take them back, like they suggested, but they wouldn't accept the return, saying it was down to 'wear and tear'. That wasn't the reason I was unhappy though, as I never claimed there was a problem with the way they were made. I paid a lot for these trainers, thinking I was getting something that would last a long time. Unfortunately, that's not the case and I'm really disappointed with how they've turned out.
Beauty products purchase
I had a brilliant time at Selfridges, particularly with a lovely young lady on the beauty counter. She really knew her stuff and was so friendly and helpful. She showed me all the different products with a great attitude, which made my shopping trip really easy. I was really thankful for her expertise and exceptional service.
Designer ring
I bought a designer ring online and paid for next day delivery. But, I didn't get any order confirmation after that. I had to stay home all day, waiting for it. After calling customer service a few times, they told me it would come the next day instead. I was upset that there was no proper communication or even an apology for the inconvenience. Even after I complained, all I got was an email with no real solution. I'm very unhappy with this experience and doubt I'll be buying from that online store again.
Overpriced item with delayed delivery
I bought this really expensive thing from the shop as a gift. They said it would arrive on a specific day, so I splashed out on postage to make sure it got there on time. But guess what? It never arrived, not even a week after the promised date. And to top it off, the store wouldn't give me a refund, even though it was their fault I never got the goods. So, I had to go through the whole rigmarole of filing a credit card claim to get my money back. Their customer service is just not on.
Perfume purchase
When I ordered my perfume from Selfridges, I was really pleased with how well everything went. They gave me all the details about when it would be dispatched, the tracking information, and where and when I could collect it. Even though I had heard some bad things before, everything went smoothly without any issues. It was a stress-free and quick process that left me happy with what I bought.
Empty birthday gift delivery
I ordered a birthday present online from Selfridges, but when it arrived, the box was empty! My girlfriend was really upset because she had spent quite a bit of money on the gift, only for it to disappear. We contacted customer service, but they weren't helpful at all. They kept saying the package was sealed properly before shipping and wouldn't refund us. It was really annoying not to be believed, we felt like we were being tricked. We have decided we won't be ordering from Selfridges again after this whole ordeal.
Blouse and skirt purchase
I bought this really lovely blouse and skirt from a posh store in Birmingham not long ago. The customer service was outstanding. Hadiza, the lady who helped us, was so nice and looked after us really well. She went out of her way to make sure me and my mum had a great time shopping. I'm really grateful for all her hard work and fantastic service.
Tie purchase
I recently ordered a tie from this department store and it was a bit of a letdown. When I got the tie, I noticed quite a few fabric catches on it, showing that it was damaged. I sent it back right away, making sure to explain the problem on their returns form. But unfortunately, they rejected the return at Selfridges. I was pretty disappointed by their lack of customer service and refusal to admit they sent out a faulty product. It's just not on really, especially from a company like Selfridges that's supposed to be top-notch.
Black and white patterned shirt and short co-ord
I was gobsmacked by how rude the staff were at Selfridges when I went to return my black and white patterned shirt and shorts co-ord! I had worn it on holiday and the dye ran in the rain, plus the shorts ended up wonky after dry cleaning. When I tried to return them, they told me that if they can't resell it, they wouldn't take it back. Can you imagine? I requested to speak with the manager, but they told me there wasn't one available. It was such a rude situation, I just couldn't believe it!
Wedding shoes
I had such a terrible experience with a pair of wedding shoes I bought from this store. I had been saving up for nearly a year to be able to afford them, only to have them break before I even got to wear them. The customer service was really bad, and I didn't hear anything back from them for 6 weeks. I couldn't even talk to anyone from the returns team on the phone, which made trying to sort out the problem really hard. In the end, I had to open a dispute with my credit card company to get a refund. Strangely enough, the refund appeared in my account just 3 days later, after they had originally said no. I definitely won't be shopping here again!
Gucci bag purchase
I recently bought a Gucci bag from Selfridges, but I was really let down by what I got. Instead of the posh experience I was looking forward to, the bag turned up in a dust bag without any proper packaging or labels. It looked cheap and second-hand, which is totally not what you'd expect from Gucci. This just isn't up to the usual standards I expect from Selfridges, so I'll definitely be returning it.
Pair of designer trainers
I bought a pair of fancy trainers from Selfridges not long ago. I only wore them twice when I noticed a hole in the front of one. When I got in touch with customer service, they told me to send the trainers back for them to check. But then they said they wouldn't give me a refund because they thought the hole was my fault after wearing them just twice. They even asked for proof of a manufacturing fault, even though the trainers were pretty much new. I'm feeling really annoyed and let down by their lack of care for customers and not standing by their products.
Makeup products
My time at the makeup department was fantastic. The person who helped me was really nice and knew their stuff, they helped me pick out this incredible red lipstick. I even bought a few more things because I was so happy with the help I got.
Clothing items for holiday
I'm an experienced shopper at Selfridges and I have to say, I was really disappointed with the recent change in their returns policy. I've been a loyal customer for years and I've always depended on their 28-day return policy. But when I got back from a holiday recently, I discovered that they'd changed it to just 14 days without telling me beforehand. I was completely taken aback and now I'm stuck with two items that I can't return. It's put me in a bit of a tough spot, to be honest.
Earrings for wife
I bought these earrin for my mum's birthday but she said they were too big for her little ears. I tried to return them to the shop but they wouldn't take them back because of 'hygiene reasons'. What a con!
TV for Mother's Day gift
I ordered a TV online as a Mother's Day gift for my mother-in-law and was thrilled when I got an email saying it was on its way. However, my excitement quickly turned to disappointment when I received another email saying it had been returned. I contacted customer service for help, but they were not helpful at all. They told me there was a pricing error and they had cancelled my order. They even tried to make me pay an extra 100£ for the same TV! All they offered was a measly 30£ voucher by way of apology. I was left feeling really let down by the whole experience.
Jeans purchase
I recently bought a pair of jeans from Selfridges, and I have to say, it was quite a disappointing experience. I was on the hunt for a specific pair of jeans that I couldn't find anywhere else, so I didn't mind paying a bit more than I would in the US. I even signed up for their "Selfridges+ Global" for free shipping, but despite that, the return process has left me feeling frustrated and let down. When the jeans arrived, I noticed pulled threads and seams coming undone, which was really disappointing considering the price I paid. But things got worse when I tried to return them. I scheduled a DHL pickup for the return, only to be told that my refund was rejected once the jeans got back to Selfridges. I tried reaching out to customer service via email and phone multiple times, but I didn't get a clear explanation for why my refund was denied. It was only after I raised a dispute through PayPal that I eventually got my money back, along with a confusing mention of a gift card or eVoucher payment method that I never used. The lack of communication and transparency around the return process has really shaken my trust in Selfridges as a retailer, so I don't see myself ordering from them again in the future.
Faulty return issue
What a total nightmare it was trying to return a faulty item to Selfridges after more than 6 months of buying it! The customer service was shockingly bad, they didn't give me any help or support at all. They just kept insisting on me having a receipt, which conveniently disappeared from my online account after the 6-month period. Even when I tried to get in touch with them, I was met with nothing but silence and lack of care. Now I'm stuck in a frustrating situation where neither Selfridges nor the manufacturer is willing to lend a hand. It's so disheartening to receive such shoddy treatment after being a loyal customer.
Jewelry purchase
I bought some jewellery from Selfridges not long ago, but it wasn't exactly what I wanted. However, I must say I was really impressed by how the customer service team handled my return. They were so helpful and understanding, which made the whole process really easy for me.
Children's clothing purchase
I popped into the Oxford Street store the other day and got some help from a guy called Neil in the kids' section. Neil was really nice and made my shopping trip a lot easier. He went out of his way to find the size I needed from the stock room, which I thought was great.
