    Nearly put my foot down

    Opened the parcel this morning and found one tin punctured and a box of cereal torn open, bits everywhere. Not great. I emailed for a refund on the cereal and got no reply, so I phoned their contact number. Twice the call was picked up but nobody spoke, just breathing on the other end while I kept saying hello. It’s usable stuff, not ruined, but the way delivery and aftercare were handled was sloppy. Had better luck with other firms, so I wouldn’t order again unless they sort customer service. Someone should answer the emails.

    "we'll deliver tomorrow". A whole six days after ordering. Irritating. But then the box turned up and here's the surprising bit — it was well packaged, most things intact, apart from a couple of jelly pots that had given up on life en route. Brands I didn't recognise, sure, but a few were actually decent. The moment I knew I was genuinely pleased? Sitting on my wobbly box of books, opening a pack and finding a nice biscuit inside — oddly satisfying, like finding a tenner in an old coat. It didn't excuse the terrible communication or the late delivery, but the contents mostly worked for us and we ate most of it. Will I rush back? Probably not. But for the price I got something usable and that's worth a begrudging thumbs up.

    Halfway through the box, I stopped wanting to eat anything

    I’d been tipped off about the Cost of Living Box by a mate who said it was a decent way to get bits for the week, so I ordered. The box arrived on the day they said, which was fine — delivery itself wasn’t the problem. It’s more about what was inside and how the company handled it afterwards. I started unpacking and pretty quickly knew something wasn’t right. One of the cordials had separated completely, like layers with bits floating about — couldn’t imagine drinking that. A jar of mayo and a caesar-style dressing had dates from 2023 and the mayo looked curdled and gave off a slightly off smell. Not subtle; definitely past its best. Some jelly pots had turned into a watery mess and lost their texture entirely. Even a big pack of crisps was damp inside the sealed bag, which was odd and disappointing. A couple of things — tonic waters and a vegan mayo — were fine and got used, but a lot had to be binned.
    I took photos, checked dates, and replied when they messaged me for feedback, thinking they’d sort it. I’ve emailed several times — I have notes of messages sent on 18 June, 30 June and 12 July — and have re-sent stuff today so there’s a paper trail. At first I wasn’t sure about everything, so some early emails mixed positives and negatives; but after opening more items the later ones were clearly complaints. The frustrating part is the silence. They contacted me once to ask for thoughts, I replied, and then nothing. No follow-up, no offer to replace or refund, no explanation. That lack of communication made the whole thing worse than the dodgy food itself.
    So, if you’re thinking of ordering because a friend recommended it, beware that although delivery was okay, the box contents can be hit-and-miss and customer service wasn’t helpful when I raised the issues.

    Late parcel, awkward chats, decent bits

    I didn’t expect to start writing a novel about a pair of socks, but here we are. I ordered a few items and at first it was all normal — payment went through and then... nothing. No dispatch email, no tracking, just that little “fulfilled” note on my account which didn’t match reality. I tried messaging them, left polite messages, then not-so-polite ones, then reminders. Mostly ignored. That alone was annoying, but I kept telling myself it might be a one-off hiccup. You know, courier delays and all that. Turns out it was a bit more than that.
    After nearly six weeks I finally got a reply, only when I left a blunt review. They answered, but with the odd line that sounded like punishment for being honest — as if leaving a poor review meant my order suddenly wasn’t important. That rubbed me up the wrong way. Communication later from the owner was brusque and felt a bit threatening, mentioning account closures and “fees” if I insisted on a refund. Not exactly confidence-inspiring.
    I ended up using my credit card provider under Section 75 to get the money back — that was a relief, to be honest. It felt like the only way to make progress. In the end, I did receive the items (eventually), but it was so late I’d already started the refund process. The products themselves? Pretty standard, actually. When the parcel arrived the fabrics were fine, not something to write home about but not bargain-bin rubbish either — a comfortable enough feel, decent stitching, colours as shown. They wear okay; after a couple of washes they didn’t go weird, which was a small win.
    So, mixed bag. The actual stuff you get is acceptable for the price, but the experience to get there is clunky and at times unpleasant. I wish they had been straightforward from the start — clear dispatch emails, sensible replies, none of the passive-aggressive stuff. A bit more professionalism would make this a very different review. I’m mildly critical because the behaviour of the owner and the lack of proper communication left a sour taste, but I’m also relieved the items weren’t useless and that the refund route worked when I needed it. If you’re after the goods and don’t mind a stressful wait (and possibly having to chase your money), go for it — otherwise, look elsewhere.

    Oh, I don't even know where to begin with this company. I placed an order, then tried to add some more items but ended up cancelling within the timeframe they gave. And then, just an hour later, I magically got a shipping notification! I tried emailing and calling them but got no response for weeks. And when the parcel finally arrived, it was still missing some items. What a mess!

    Box of assorted clearance items

    I recently bought a box of mixed clearance goods from Clearance XL and my experience wasn't great. I paid extra for express delivery but when the expected delivery date came and went, I couldn't get hold of the company by email, no one replied. I felt annoyed and wasn't sure if I'd ever get my stuff. Eventually, the box turned up and I was a bit let down by what was inside. There were 12 cans of ginger beer, 12 cartons of vegetable soup, and some random samples like cakes, tonic water, and a bag of salt. I like the idea of surprise items but what was in my box wasn't very interesting or practical. It looks like I'll only use a few things and the rest will have to go in the bin.

    Don't bother wasting time looking elsewhere - Clearance XL is where you should head for great deals on XL-sized items. The range and standard of products are fantastic, and the support from the team was outstanding. I was thrilled when my order turned up in only 4 days. The 4 parcels of treats I got were wrapped up really nicely, with everything there and nothing broken.     I ordered a mystery box through Wowcher on the 6th of February. Even though I didn't get any confirmation from the company, both PayPal and Wowcher confirmed that the payment and redemption went through. As the 30-day mark got close, I sent an email to ask for an update, but got no reply. When I emailed again on the same day, suddenly my order status changed to 'completed.' At first, I felt like I might have been scammed, but then I got an email from the courier at 4pm saying the parcel would be with me soon. The next day, I got the delivery from DPD and was happy with what I got. Not everything in the mystery box was my cup of tea, but there was a good mix and it was value for money. Due to this, I've changed my rating from 1 to 4, but the lack of communication and the negative initial impression are still on my mind.
