    Holiday insurance purchase

    I booked a holiday for May 2020, but it got cancelled due to COVID-19. I got in touch with the company early on to ask if I could change the date to May 2021. At first, they said they would look into it, but then I didn't hear anything for ages. When they finally replied, they said I could only switch to dates before April 2021. When I asked for a refund instead, they offered me less than a quarter of what I paid. After a long and frustrating phone call, they said they would give me half back as a gesture of goodwill, but I turned it down. I wanted a full refund because none of this was my fault. They wouldn't budge on their offer and told me to take it up with the ombudsman, so I did. But I haven't heard anything from them yet. Despite the insurance being cheap, I'm determined to get my full payment back on principle.

    Recent stay highlights.

    I was really disappointed with my recent stay at this hotel. There weren't enough staff around and some of the amenities I had booked weren't available. The rooms were a bit messy and the pool closed early unless you were on a spa break. To top it off, I couldn't even use the golf range because of a big group of golfers and the golf shop shut at 3pm. It was just one letdown after another.

    My experience using this online booking platform has been really bad. I've been using it for 2 years now, and every week there are problems with clients who book online but don't get SMS or push notifications.     I bought a thermostat and some anti-freeze, paid for it, and then waited. The website seemed British, but it's actually Autodoc in Germany! They took ages to dispatch the items, used Evri (another one-star company), and Evri didn't even make an attempt to deliver. I've tried to get in touch with them but no luck so far. I also contacted Autodoc, and they said they would follow up on the issue, but nothing has happened. Now I don't have the parts and neither company is responding. It seems like they have just taken my money and disappeared.

    I recently bought something from this website and thought I was getting an Eau de Toilette (EDT), but they actually sent me aftershave which was a surprise. I've sent them multiple emails to fix the mistake, but they haven't replied at all. It was also tough to get hold of them because they don't have a phone number for support. The website itself wasn't great - the search function didn't work so I had to use Google to find what I needed. When I asked for a refund due to distance selling laws, they said I had to return the item in its original packaging, but there wasn't any. The item only came in outer packaging that I had to rip open. They said the product description was accurate on the packaging, but I couldn't check because there was no inner packaging. It's pretty clear that this company doesn't care about honesty or looking after their customers.

    Robert and Sam made a great team as we toured Windsor, Stonehenge, and Bath. Sam's driving was so smooth that we could even manage a little nap during our long 12-hour day, which was really nice.     The itinerary for my tour in Japan was pretty decent, with some interesting spots to check out and a lovely tour guide.
